Serious students of dance need serious training and serious training includes private class instruction with a qualified teacher who will work one-on-one with the student to fix their problem areas, clean up the technique work, and set them on a course for college and/or a professional dance career. Classroom instruction does not allow for the same level of care and attention to be spent working with the serious student. Dancers who enroll in private instruction are expected to progress through the Cecchetti method via regularly scheduled examinations. NOTE: Private ballet instruction is designed to compliment, not replace, studio work. I will work with each student to help him/her create a training program to help meet his/her goals with dance.
I teach pure classical ballet utilizing the Cecchetti methodology (on the same par as the Suzuki method for music training.) I prefer to work independently from my home studio, much like local music teachers do. I have taught for several years from home and have had great success with my students. I have also worked in a studio setting while undergoing my teacher training. I appreciate both the nature and benefits of classroom and private lessons.
I am nationally certified to teach through the Cecchetti Council of America and I hold my Qualified Associate Status within the organization. (This means I have passed through the first 5 of 8 levels of their teacher training program; the equivalent of a BA degree in Ballet.) I am the only Qualified Cecchetti teacher in San Antonio, TX.
I am currently enrolling private students for the next academic year. Private lessons cost $25/hr. Semi-private lessons can be arranged to help defray the tuition cost. Cecchetti Material and Exam Fees are separate fees payable as each student progresses through the work.
Previous dance experience is helpful but not required to begin the Cecchetti method. Any student aged 10 and older may contact me for services. Students younger than 10 who desire to work in the Cecchetti method will be only be accepted through an audition process.
